A Bride Married to Amazement

Mary Oliver, a well known poet, was born in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio in 1935.  She started writing poetry at the age of 14 and her first collection of poems was published when she was 28. Her poem, When Death Comes contains a stanza that is particularly compelling.  It goes like this “When it’s over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.
